such beautiful music

it was a challenge to decide which song to post because vampires with dreaming kids is such a lovely EP. however, i went with nectarine, since it was the song that drew me to twin sister. all 4 tracks from the EP are simply beautiful. my only "disappointment" is that there are only 4 tracks. it left me wanting much more. but nonetheless, i love this EP! it's one of my favorites.

twin sister's, vampires with dreaming kids, is available for free download here.

mets at baltimore

i was so stoked for this week cause the mets were in town! yup, the mets visited oriole park at camden yards for a 3 game interleague series against the orioles. it was a lot of fun to attend all 3 games even though the mets lost games 2 and 3. i even ended up with a souvenir....

before game 3, i went early to oriole park with my bro to check out the mets batting practice. we were sitting by center-right field, behind the scoreboard at eutaw street bleachers. beltran was amazing! he hit home runs all over the place! and fortunately, he hit a homer right towards me! i tried to bare hand it, but it hit my palm so hard i dropped it lol. although it bounced off my right hand to the row behind me, i was able to snatch it under the seats :)

game 1. tuesday, june 16: 6-4 W
i met up with my bro and 3 other friends at oriole park. it was my first visit to oriole park... and i have to say, i really liked the ballpark.. i liked it more than shea stadium! although i came a bit late, we were lucky enough to get first row seats at eutaw street bleachers for game 1. (above pic: view from my seat)

game 2. wednesday, june 17: 4-6 L
we got some good seats at left field lower box for game 2. so far, this is the closest seat to home plate for me in a ball game. i hope to get some field box seats at citi field whenever i head to new york though.

it's outta here! a solo home run by gary sheffield in the top of the 6th.
there isn't much to see, but the audio says it all haha.

sweet wave by mets and orioles fans!

game 3. thursday, june 18: 4-5 L
what a heartbreak loss! mets were leading 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th, but
k-rod blew it... he loads the bases, and walks adam jones, which ties the game at 4-4. and with one out, next at plate, aubrey huff singled to right field to end the game. i was very disappointed.. i thought we totally had the win. but honestly, it was a great experience. first time to see a walk-off win and blown save in a ball game haha. oh well.

p.s. sorry for the bad quality pics and vids. it was all taken by cell phone.

one year after loosing the finals to the boston celtics, the lakers have found redemption. as a lakers fan, i can't be any happier! i knew it since the beginning of the season... that this is the year for the lakers. YES!!! the los angeles lakers are the 2009 NBA champs! :D

june showers

thunderstorms and heavy rain in june? that's a first. but when the forecast says sunshine all day, expect to see me playing basketball at the park.

streetball pretty much consumed most of my time when i lived in new york. playing with all those hardcore ballers at the playgrounds of Queens really helped me develop my game.. not only did i improve my skills, but i also gained other skills as well, such as trash talking haha. yeah, it goes hand in hand with new york streetball. you had to be tough and gritty to compete with the big boys on the court. it was a great experience.

however, when i moved to maryland, my love for streetball slowly faded away.
i guess it was bittersweet because my creative potential truly emerged.

but yeah, for some reason i figured it would be great to commit this summer to restore my skills in basketball. playing ball was my life back in new york and kuwait.. i feel i need to keep it that way. if not at the same intensity as before, at least to the point of retaining my game.

so.... who's got next?! haha

heima (at home)

this morning i was in Towson.. i randomly decided to stop by record and tape traders to see if they had the Sigur Ros film, "Heima". fortunately, they had one copy left, and it was the 2 disk edition :)

i first saw Heima on the sundance channel sometime last year. it's an absolutely beautiful documentary of the band Sigur Ros, about their tour around their homeland, Iceland, in the summer of 2006. words can't explain the beauty of the cinematography that complements the ethereal music of such an amazing band.

here is footage of "Hoppipola", a song from the 2005 album "Takk..."
