copenhagen love
milan, new york, paris, london... copenhagen! i've been loving what's been coming out of copenhagen for quite some time now. and with this year's copenhagen fashion week, copenhagen is continuing to move up in the fashion world. some of my favorite autumn/winter runway looks this year came from wood wood women's A/W 2010 collection.

beasts of fashion: lynx
this has been one of my most favorite portraits for a long time now. i never knew where it originated from, until two days ago. what's awesome is that it's actually part of a collection entitled, bêtes de mode (beasts of fashion).
see the rest of the 13 portraits by thomas couderc & clément vauchez here.
band of outsiders fall 2010!
saturday night at new york's milk studio, band of outsiders introduced their fall 2010 collection for fashion week. with this collection, band of outsiders' designer scott sternberg has clearly taken the classic preppy look his brand is distinguished for, and what i have grown to love, to the next level. the look of the collection is described as "french new wave meets classic americana".
view the entire band of outsiders fall 2010 RTW collection here and different views here.

the strokes: RECORDING NEW ALBUM
the strokes are in the process of recording new material for their forthcoming fourth album, which is aimed to be released sometime in september of this year. their third album, first impressions of earth, is my least favorite, so i'm really hoping for them to bounce back and have this new album emulate their debut album, is this it - one of my favorite albums of all time!

excuses by the morning benders
WOW, after watching this video of the morning benders, it gave me more reason to be excited for their upcoming (march 9) record, big echo. the video features the morning benders and friends delivering a fabulous performance of excuses, the opening track to big echo. just to name a few friends that participated: john vanderslice, gram lebron of port o'brien, and christoper owens of girls. way to represent the bay area!
kudos to the morning benders homage to phil spector's wall of sound technique, and yours truly for a magnificent capture! here's a note the band wrote:
after 30 minutes or so shoveling 2 feet of snow, what a great video to warm up to :)

my shoes wish list
i have to admit, footwear has become my new obsession (hopefully it's just a phase). as you can see, by most of the shoes on my list, i'm a sucker for classics and moc-toes.
1. opening ceremony m1 desert boots
2. mark mcnairy / gh bass weejuns (spring 2010 collection)
3. schmoove jamaica corso (a modern wing tip oxford!)
4. acne barefoot tassel loafers (definitely not in this color though)
5. j crew milbrook driving mocs
6. ll bean duck boots (since snow plans to stay)
OR
red wing / j crew rugged chukka boots
so far, desert boots and driving mocs are crossed off my wish list. j crew had a sample sale last month in manhattan and i bought myself a pair of mushroom millbrook driving mocs and dark khaki macalister boots (both suede). got them both for half the price! opening ceremony's black desert boots look so good though.

CURE THRIFT SHOP
among the bustling streets of the urban jungle, there lies a gem deep within manhattan's east village. a gem by the name of cure thrift shop, it is a consignment store like no other.
filled with antiques, collectibles, clothing, books, and other magical goods, cure thrift shop would be paradise for the thrift enthusiast. actually, the place looks more like a museum, except everything is for sale. however, the arrangements on the first floor are so attractive, you'd just get lost in admiration.
i discovered cure thrift shop last summer and fell in love with the store. during my time back in ny over the winter break, my trip wouldn't have been complete if i hadn't stopped by. although there weren't any good finds (specifically clothing) the day i went, there is definitely no other thrift experience than a visit to cure thrift shop.
